Retail rents on Calea Victoriei, Bucharest’s prime shopping artery, surged 17% year over year to €70 per square meter per month, securing the third-largest increase globally among the 50 markets analyzed in Cushman & Wakefield’s Main Streets Across the World 2025 report.
Across Central and Eastern Europe, Bucharest remains cheaper than regional peers: Prague (€235/sq m/month), Budapest (€160), Warsaw (€92) and Belgrade (€90) all command higher rents, while Sofia (€61) and Bratislava (€45) trail behind.
London’s New Bond Street became the world’s most expensive retail corridor, with rents climbing 22% to €1,707/sq m/month, overtaking Milan’s Via Montenapoleone (€1,667) and New York’s Upper Fifth Avenue (€1,530).
Europe also saw notable double-digit increases on Oxford Street and Regent Street, while Budapest’s Fashion Street delivered the region’s standout performance with a 33% jump, surpassing Vaci utca as the city’s top retail destination.
